NetDay Speak Up Day for Students, October 2003
Problem: Create a national campaign and online survey to collect student voices for the national education technology plan in three months.
Solution: Bring a registration for participation form online to track interest and target communications. Link registration to partnership and email marketing campaigns. Create a response system to reduce support needs.
Result: 210,000 students in all 50 states and overseas American schools participated with a 0.1% help request rate.
Thin Client @ School Contest, 2000-2001
Problem: Raise national awareness about thin client technology in the K-12 education market for National Semiconductor and partners.
Solution: Launch an online contest to give away up to $120,000 in equipment and services.
Result: Tripled traffic to Thin Client @ School microsite in six months, increased key word phrase ranking to first place on major search engines, and raised awareness by 40% according to industry studies.
SmartSchools NetDay, 1996-1997
Problem: Mobilize community volunteers to help schools wire classrooms and improve technology access for students for Smart Valley, Inc.
Solution: Create a comprehensive database containing contacts for 500 public schools with a Web-based interface for volunteers, event updates, and reporting. Auto-enroll volunteers on email lists for updates and viral marketing.
Result: 14,500 volunteers participated in three events to wire 10,500 classrooms in 425 schools with $27 million in donations, discounts and services.
